Synopsis:
Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.
Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.
The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.
Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

“Tipping my head back, I screamed.
Unlocked from the depths of my soul, it kept coming and coming. I couldn't stop it. I couldn't comprehend what I'd become—the things I had done. And when I stopped, it was only because my throat was raw.”

I have had this book for a little while now and so I thought I should try and finish the series by the end of the year and with only one book to go I think I will be able to succeed I just wish I loved this book as much as the previous books in this series...

As I say every time I review these books this series of covers are so beautiful and are by far one of my favourite covers in a series. I love the way that all the books tie in with the series and this one is no exception. I love the use of colour for this cover as for me it makes it stand out a lot more than if a different colour was used.

I can't believe it took me over a month to finish this book which is one of the longest amount of time its taken me to read a book that isn't even 400 pages long! To be fair though it wasn't all because I didn't like the book as there was just over a week when I hardly read anything and when I did it was on my kindle. When I first started this book I was completely confused I had no idea what was happening so I did go and read Elixir before I went any further which did help but I really should have read Deity again as I could not for the life of me remember what happen in that book making it so much harder to get into this book. Once I got over the initial confusion I actually really enjoyed the book but every time I put it down I just couldn't get the enthusiasm to pick it back up. After I hit the halfway mark I really started to enjoy it especially closer to the end as there was so much going on that I just had to find out what was going to happen next. What I really enjoyed in this book was the way in which Aiden and Alex's relationship seemed stronger and stronger, it felt like I could feel Aiden's love for Alex through the pages. I really did love the way that Armentrout really had me going through the emotions as one minute I would be laughing out loud then the next minute I would want to cry. I loved the ending as it has set me up for what I hope will be an epic finale.

My feeling towards certain characters changed throughout Apollyon and some from previous book I actually liked! Alex was the main one who had so many different personalities throughout this book that it was hard to keep up until she settled down (that's all I will say as I don't want to give anything away but put it this way it was heartbreaking). I loved Aiden even more in this book which I didn't think was at all possible but he just really stepped up and it was sweet/heartbreaking to see.

Overall a disappointing beginning but once I got into it I really enjoyed it.

“He was there. Like always, holding me up when I couldn't stand and letting me go when he knew I needed him to. He was more than just a shelter. Aiden was my other half, my equal.”
