Synopsis:
Kricket Hollowell is normally not one to wish upon stars; she believes they’re rarely in her favor. Well versed at dodging caseworkers from Chicago’s foster care system, the past few years on her own have made Kricket an expert at the art of survival and blending in. With her 18th birthday fast approaching, she dreams of the day when she can stop running and find what her heart needs most: a home. Trey Allairis hates Earth and doubts that anyone from his world can thrive here. What he’s learning of Kricket and her existence away from her true home only confirms his theory. But, when he and Kricket lie together under the stars of Ethar, counting them all may be easier than letting her go. Kyon Ensin’s secrets number the stars; he knows more about Kricket's gifts than anyone and plans to possess her because of them. He also knows she’s more valuable than any fire in the night sky. He’ll move the heavens and align them all in order to make her his own. When everything in their world can be broken, will Kricket rely upon love to save her under different stars?

I was given a review copy of this book via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love everything about this cover its stunning. I must admit it was the cover that drew me into requesting to review the book. I like that it could be from a scene in the book well apart from the clothing but I can forgive that.

When I first started this book I thought this was going to be an ok read but I don't know why everyone raves on about it, but then once I get further and further into it I now understand where they where all coming from as I was hooked. As well as being a little slow to start with there was the language that I found hard to understand what they where saying but there was times when certain words was explained which did help, even though this did bug me a bit I understand where Bartol was coming from because Kricket would also have been feeling the same way as me. I think that it was when Trey was introduced when this book started to pick up as there was more action taking place. The romance was a bit of a slow burner but I felt that it was more believable than if they loved each other from the beginning. I really enjoyed the second half of the book but it was closer to the end that I really started to love this book. I liked the ending as there was things cleared up but there was also an opening for more to come in the next books.

I liked pretty much all the characters but there was a few that I wasn't sure about. Kricket was a great female character as she was a strong person when many people would have crumbled but there was times when she would annoy me. When Trey was first introduced I wasn't sure what to think of him as I didn't feel he was trustworthy but the more we got to know him the more he warmed on me and at the very end I loved him. Jax and Wayra where great editions to this book especially Jax as he added much needed humour. Kyon I wasn't sure about in the beginning just like Trey but unlike Trey I couldn't warm to him.

Overall a good start to what I hope will be an amazing series.
