Synopsis:
Meet the men of Oxford magazine! In the first captivating spin-off of Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love & Stiletto series, a not-so-friendly battle of the sexes turns into a scorching office romance. Hotshot sports editor Cole Sharpe has been freelancing for Oxfordfor years, so when he hears about a staff position opening up, he figures he’s got the inside track. Then his boss drops a bombshell: Cole has competition. Female competition, in the form of a fresh-faced tomboy who can hang with the dudes—and write circles around them, too. Cole usually likes his women flirty and curvy, but he takes a special interest in his skinny, sassy rival, if only to keep an eye on her. And soon, he can’t take his eyes off her. Penelope Pope knows all too well that she comes off as just one of the guys. Since she’s learned that wanting more usually leads to disappointment, Penelope’s resigned to sitting on the sidelines when it comes to love. So why does Cole make her want to get back in the game? The man is as arrogant as he is handsome. He probably sees her as nothing more than a barrier to his dream job. But when an unexpected kiss turns into a night of irresistible passion, Penelope has to figure out whether they’re just fooling around—or starting something real.

I received a review copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love this cover it looks like it could be a scene take out of the book as there is actually a part where Cole has a shirt on with his jacket off which I loved that part so it made me love the cover even more. I also think that the male on the cover looks like what I imagine Cole to look like so that's a plus.

As soon as I started this book I knew I was in trouble as from the very second that I started I was hooked, to the point where I didn't want to put it down and when I had to I kept thinking I can't wait to continue reading it. I enjoyed the relationship between Penelope and Cole as it was nice to see them start as friends plus I thought they brought out the best in each other. There was a couple of sweet moments but what I enjoyed was the humour running throughout. What I really enjoyed about this book was the whole body issues with Penelope as I'm so used to reading about the 'perfect' body and love the skin their in however with Penelope she was really thin and what was different was she was unhappy with being that way. Cole's brother was a great addition especially with his disability as it was done in a great way. What did bug me was at the end of some of the chapters kept me guessing what was going to happen next yet when I went on to the next chapter it was a couple of days later with not much of an explanation about what happened in between. I loved the ending I just wish it was extended a bit but with them appearing in the next book I didn't mind too much.

I loved every character in this book apart from one character which was Penelope's ex-friend he was just a jerk. Penelope was a great character as she was such a tomboy and I loved that about her as we don't see it often plus she was just a nice person. Cole is definitely one of my favourite ever male characters as he was so sweet and had a great sense of humour but he also had a vulnerable side to him as well. I can't wait for Lincoln's book he was great and there's a secret hidden with him that I can't wait to find out. It was great to see characters from the Stiletto girls and their partners to see where they are with their lives.

Overall, a great start to the spin off series and I can't wait to read more from this series.
